no1s1 is a house that is owned by no one. It is governed by a smart contract and explores new ways of participation with digital tools. One could say that smart contracts are the ultimate open code: They allow the performance of credible transactions without third parties. These transactions are trackable and irreversible. Smart contracts are transparent, immutable and can be made partially or fully self-executing, self-enforcing, or both. This provides us with new opportunities and threats to the society of the future. no1s1 is a pilot to explore these new possibilities and discuss them with a broader audience.
Project Business Case
no1s1 is a noncommercial project. For this pilot, we rely on public and private funding. In a future with completely decentralized ownership, it is possible to rethink business cases and provide infrastructure for minimal costs.
no1s1 is a pilot project and completely one of a kind. The project provides innovative tools that rethink property ownership, developing new digital infrastructures. It can trigger important discussions, spark interest and raise awareness about upcoming technologies and threats.
The most important part of the project is to show that it's possible and that we need to discuss future technologies before they are mass adopted by the markets. This is already happening: We've been able to present the project for the SNF, the University of Zurich, the University of Basel, the United Nations and many other important audiences. So for us, the showcase is already a success.
