DINAcon Awards Nominee

no1s1

Project Category: #3 Best Practice

no1s1 is a house that is owned by no one. It is governed by a smart contract and explores new ways of participation with digital tools. One could say that smart contracts are the ultimate open code: They allow the performance of credible transactions without third parties. These transactions are trackable and irreversible. Smart contracts are transparent, immutable and can be made partially or fully self-executing, self-enforcing, or both. This provides us with new opportunities and threats to the society of the future. no1s1 is a pilot to explore these new possibilities and discuss them with a broader audience.

Why should this Project win a DINAcon Award?

no1s1 is the world's first house owned by nothing more than code. An experiment in self-governing real estate, public space, liquid ownership, and participation models. The insights will be incorporated into a framework that can potentially pave the way toward a new concept for private property and ownership. The participatory nature of its governance could inspire public and private administrations to improve their methods of inclusive decision making.
