The public domain project is a independent community driven project to make historical audio and film records available to everybody. In our opinion it is necessary to: *Collect *Protect *and enable access to cultural heritage. Our cultural heritage belongs to all of us, that's why we must preserve it! A lot of traditional archives make the same two failures: They don't work with the records, they just store them and second they make it hard for you to listen to it or to use it We correct both, we digitize our records and we provide easy access to it! That's how we understand an archive should work.
Our cultural heritage belongs to all of us, that's why we must preserve it
As we work with 78rpm records, a long forgotten media format for most people, a lot of music from the beginning of the time of audio recording would be lost. Only the most popular tracks or artists where re-released on more modern formats like vinyl or CDs. All the less successful (comercial wise) records need to be digitized from this old media format to be accessible again.
