The purpose of the Open Education Platform for Management Schools – OEP – is to augment the visibility of the teaching carried out at management schools especially at Universities of Applied Sciences and contribute towards its continuous improvement. On the OEP lecturers will find high-quality teaching resources and scientific contributions. By using published material and through publishing their own contribution lecturers will promote the international exchange of knowledge within the community and enhance the quality of teaching at management schools.
The OEP adheres to an Open Access. The quality of the contributions is assured by a clearly defined organization of the platform and a double-blind peer review that is undertaken by recognized specialists, our reviewers, and a qualified editorial board.
OEP is funded by the Association of Management Schools Switzerland – AMS, the organization representing the seven Swiss management schools established under Swiss public law.
Project Business Case
OEP started as a project with 7 committed business schools from Switzerland. Each founding member school designated two editors and a number of reviewers for the start of the platform. At the same time, business schools started to acquire contributions of their lecturers. As especially publishing teaching material is not yet common in the academic community, acquiring submissions needs quite some time. During the current development phase, the editorial team pursues two main goals: a) increasing the numbers of authors and publications, and b) extending the network of partner schools. As the OEP is subject to network effects, each additional contribution makes it more attractive for the community.
The Open Education Platform OEP especially makes teaching material of public business schools available Open Access. Therefore, OEP contributes to the Open Access movement in Switzerland as well as in the academic community. OEP enables lecturers to access and publish teaching (and other scientific) material and supporting the exchange of high-quality resources and thus enhances knowledge transfer within the teaching community of business schools. Through OEP, lecturers of teaching universities will get a higher recognition in the academic community as such.
In terms the OEP would be shut down there wouldn't be any option to publish especially teaching related material from public business school Open Access in Switzerland (and beyond). Teaching universities such as the Universities of Applied Sciences in Switzerland wouldn't have an outlet to publish especially teaching related material.
